A man of age 2 consulted a neurologist. After lifting the weight, he developed severe pain in the lumbar region and along the sciatic nerve. Getting out of bed, and the patient’s movement is sharply limited and painful. X-ray examination: the vertebrae of the lumbar region are of the usual shape and size. The fifth lumbar vertebra has a non-closure of the arches. What is the reason for the occurrence of this pathology? Justify the answer from the standpoint of onto-phylogenetic relationships and mechanisms of ontogenesis regulation.

Failure of the spinal canal without hernial protrusion occurred during the embryogenesis of the vertebrae from the mesoderm. Probably, the occurrence of this developmental anomaly is associated with a violation of the cellular mechanisms of regulation of embryogenesis: primary cell induction, proliferation, adhesion and cell movement.
