The reasons for the Chartist movement lay in the workers’ dissatisfaction with their political position in the country, in the restriction of their right to elect representatives to parliament. The main reason that prompted the Chartists to file a complaint with parliament was the beggarly conditions of working families.
Chartist requirements:
1) Remove taxes on the national debt.
2) Abolish the law on the poor, which hardened the position of workers.
3) Reduce the working hours of factory workers and increase their wages.
4) Increase the number of representatives from the people when electing to parliament.
