| Blood-sucking insects are common inhabitants of many biocenoses. Explain in which cases they occupy the position of consumers II, III, and even IV orders in food chains.
1. If a blood-sucking insect feeds on the blood of a herbivorous animal, it is itself a second-order consumer.
2. If a blood-sucking insect feeds on the blood of an insectivorous, small predator, or even a scavenger, then it is itself a consumer of the third or fourth order.
