By whom and when were the viruses discovered? Compare the structure of different viruses. Note the similarities and differences.

Viruses were discovered in 1892 by a Russian scientist Dmitry Iosifovich Ivanovsky in the study of tobacco mosaic disease.
The shape of the viruses is diverse: multifaceted in the form of an icosahedron (polio virus) or dodecahedron (herpes virus), rod-shaped or filiform (tobacco mosaic virus), club-shaped (bacteriophages), round shape (influenza virus). Most viruses have a symmetrical structure. Some viruses have a more complex structure, in addition to the core and hapsid, they may have an additional protein-lipid membrane.
