The nature of crushing depends on the amount of nutrients and their distribution in the egg. Crushing can be either uniform, i.e. complete, when the egg is completely divided into blastomeres (in the lancelet, echinoderms, amphibians, etc.), or incomplete when the yolk is large and only the upper disk of the egg is crushed (in fish, reptiles, birds).
