Compare the economic development of France and the German Empire

In Germany, there was a growth in all industries, including new ones (energy, chemical), which determined higher growth rates and an increase in trade turnover. In France, there is only a significant increase in heavy industry against the background of small growth in other industries, as evidenced by the small growth rate of production, a slight increase in the share of the population employed in industry and small turnover. Unlike Germany, France remained predominantly an agrarian country with a large bureaucratic apparatus.
