Two centuries before Copernicus (in the first half of the XIV century), the ideas of Europeans about the purpose of human life and activity were completely different: they included the salvation of the soul and material well-being, but did not include the study of the Universe in other ways than studying the Bible.
Remember: The process of learning a person lasts a lifetime. The value of the same knowledge for different people may be different, it is determined by their individual characteristics and needs. Therefore, knowledge is always needed at any age and position.
