Could the religious outbreak of Islam in Arabia have occurred not in the 7th century, but 100, 200 or 300 years earlier or later? What consequences could it have in this case?
If Iran and Byzantium had not been exhausted in a long mutual war that ended in 630, then Muhammad’s preaching would apparently have led only to the emergence of a small religious state in Arabia.
