Describe Ampere’s experience, what is its significance for the development of electromagnetism?

Two thin conductors are placed parallel to each other and electric is passed through them, first in one direction, then in the opposite direction. In the first case, we observe the attraction of the conductors, and in the second, repulsion. Ampere’s experiments showed that magnetic fields created by currents in parallel conductors lead to the emergence of an interaction force (Ampere force). His discoveries were the first steps in the development of electromagnetism.
