Describe the distribution of living organisms in the aquatic environment and explain what physical and chemical factors it depends on.

Organisms with increased body buoyancy are distributed in the water column and move under the influence of its current (plankton). Organisms that adapt to active swimming and reduce body friction also live in the water column, but lead an active lifestyle (nektons). Organisms with adaptations that are aimed at reducing buoyancy (benthos) live at the bottom of the reservoir or in the thickness of the bottom soil.
