Describe the main functional areas of the cerebral cortex.

In the occipital lobe, the visual zone is distinguished, in the temporal lobe – the auditory and olfactory, in these zones the analysis of information coming from the corresponding sense organs takes place. In front of the central gyrus, the nuclei of the motor cortex are located, impulses from which are directed to the neurons of the spinal cord and from them to the skeletal muscles. Behind the central groove are the nuclei of the sensitive area of the cortex, which is responsible for temperature, pain, tactile and muscle sensitivity; impulses from receptors are analyzed in them.
