Describe the physical properties of formic (methane) and acetic (ethanic) acids. Why do these acid solutions taste sour?

Formic acid is a sharp-smelling liquid, readily soluble in water, poisonous, and causes burns.
Acetic acid is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, readily soluble in water.
When a few drops of litmus solution are added to test tubes with acid solutions, the color of the indicator changes from blue to red: there are hydrogen ions in the solution, and a sour taste appears.
