Clovis’s warrior is an infantryman, armed with a spear and an ax, less often with a sword; of armor he had a shield and a helmet, was dressed in a leather shirt with iron plates on his chest. Warrior of Charlemagne – equestrian armor; he wears chain mail, fights with a spear and two-handed sword, and has a servant squire. The Arab warrior is a horseman, armed with a saber instead of a sword and a long-range bow.
