| Put a metal spoon in a glass of hot water. The kinetic energy of hot water molecules is greater than the kinetic energy of a cold metal, and during interaction they will transfer part of their kinetic energy to the metal. As a result, the energy of water molecules will decrease, and the energy of metal molecules will increase. After a while, their temperatures will equalize.
