Explain how the electroscope and electrometer work.

Electroscope and electrometer consist of a metal rod, to the lower end of which metal petals are attached in the first case, and in the second – an arrow. The principle of operation is based on the fact that metals can transfer an electric charge to any point. When charge is imparted to the top of the rod, the charge is transferred to the entire rod. Depending on the amount of charge, the angle of deflection of the petals or from the heating pad increases.
