Explain how the pressure gauge works

The manometer, a device for measuring the division of a liquid, consists of a small box 1, which contains rarefied air. This box is closed by a membrane 2. Under the pressure of a gas or liquid, the membrane bends inward and turns the arrow 3 attached to it, which indicates the pressure value on the instrument scale.
