Explain, on the basis of the molecular structure of the substance, the heating of a spoke dipped in hot water.

| If at first the water is hot and the spoke is cold, then the average kinetic energy of the water molecules was greater than the average kinetic energy of the cold metal particles. Gradually, water molecules will transfer part of their energy to the metal, and their temperatures will equalize. Thus, a change in the internal energy of the water and the spokes will occur.
