| Tendons are a dense, irreducible part by which the muscle is attached to various points of the bone and acts as a lever mechanism, providing movement in the joints. The muscles of the extremities have narrow and long tendons, wide and flat tendons are characteristic of the muscles involved in the formation of the walls of the body cavities. Tendons are low-stretchable, have significant strength and withstand enormous loads.
