Explain the features of the light phase of photosynthesis, its importance for the formation of organic substances.

The light stage is the first stage of photosynthesis; it got its name from what happens only in the presence of light. And called – the light phase. It proceeds in thylakoid chloroplasts. In this phase, a quantum (portion) of solar energy is absorbed by chlorophyll and its electrons are excited, chlorophyll cannot be in this active state for a long time, and must give its excited electron to another molecule to the acceptor, and take in its place some electron of another molecule (donor) . An excited electron is transferred from molecule to molecule. During this chain process, ATP molecules and other energy accumulators in the cell are synthesized. The electron donor for chlorophyll is a water molecule. Under the action of sunlight, a water molecule breaks down into hydrogen protons, electrons, and molecular oxygen. This process is called – photolysis of water. H2O-> 4H + + 4ē + O2. The most important result of the light phase is the synthesis and accumulation of ATP molecules. And molecular oxygen is just a by-product of the photolysis of water.
