For what purpose in engineering enzymology get immobilized enzymes? What is their advantage over natural enzymes?

The main advantages of using immobilized enzymes over natural ones are as follows:
1) immobilized enzymes are easily separable from the reaction medium, which makes it possible to reuse them, as well as to obtain a pure (without impurities) product of the enzymatic reaction;
2) the enzymatic process using immobilized enzymes can be carried out continuously, adjusting the rate of the catalyzed reaction and the yield of the final product;
3). immobilized enzymes can be modified by purposefully changing their properties, for example, the specificity of the action;
4) it is possible to regulate the catalytic activity of immobilized enzymes by changing the properties of the carrier.
