Formulate the Boyle-Mariotte law. Explain it in terms of molecular kinetic theory.

For a given amount of ideal gas, the product of the gas pressure and its volume is constant if the gas temperature does not change. From the point of view of the MCT, the gas pressure on the vessel walls is the result of the impacts of molecules on the vessel walls. Because the gas temperature does not change, the mean square of the velocity of the gas molecules does not change. However, when the volume changes, the number of molecules per unit volume changes and the number of impacts of molecules on the vessel walls increases and, consequently, the pressure changes.
