Gardeners, when picking cabbage seedlings, pinch the top of the main root, and when propagating currant bushes, stem cuttings are used on which the adventitious roots develop. Both of these flowering plants belong to the class of dicotyledons. Explain what type of root system the cabbage grown from this seedling will have and which currant grown from the stem cuttings.
1) When pickling cabbage, after pinching, the main root ceases to grow in length (as zones of growth division are removed) and the development of lateral and adnexal roots proceeds.
2) When rooting the stem cuttings of currant, adventitious roots develop. Thus, the root system in both cases will become similar to the fibrous (the predominant development of the lateral and adnexal roots).
