The delimitation of species of competitors of desert ants by the size of the seeds they eat is a vivid example of weakening competition. American scientists have found that different species specialize in the consumption of seeds of different sizes, as well as that differences in body size and size of the jaws of working individuals are more pronounced in those meta where more competing species live. This proves that in conditions of competition those working individuals survive that are more different from competitors.
