Organisms continuously consume and excrete water. The process of transpiration is especially intense, that is, the evaporation of moisture by plants. Thus, the forest vegetation of the Earth annually evaporates 50 million km3 of water. The gas and salt composition of land and ocean waters largely depends on the organisms living in the water, as well as on the area of drainage basins. Due to them, the following enter the water: carbon dioxide, humic substances, compounds of sulfur, phosphorus, nitrogen and other elements. As a result, water becomes chemically active, that is, its ability to dissolve chemical compounds increases.
