How are genetically engineered insulin produced on an industrial scale?

1) The gene encoding insulin is transplanted into circular DNA molecules (plasmids).
2) Recombinant plasmids are introduced into bacterial cells. The culture of such cells synthesizes insulin on an industrial scale. (Currently, yeast is used to produce insulin.)
