How are organisms related to meiosis? Give examples.

Meiosis in the life cycle of an organism (from one sexual reproduction to another) occurs once. In animals, meiosis occurs when gametes are formed from the parent maternal diploid cells. In plants, meiosis is observed during the formation of haploid spores. In some cases, a haploid generation can develop from such spores, in which gametes are formed as a result of mitosis. But sometimes in unicellular organisms, fungi, and lower plants, meiosis occurs immediately after the formation of a zygote, and in this case an adult haploid develops from haploid cells – spores the body.
