How are the directions of the military campaigns of Emir Timur and Genghis Khan similar and how are they different? How can this difference be explained?
Genghis Khan and Timur directed their campaigns along the Great Silk Road, trying to take it under their control. But Genghis Khan fought for the northern branch of the path (which went through the steppe), and Timur – for the southern branch (it went through the oases and cities).
