How can you determine the mass of stars?

The mass of stars can only be accurately determined for stars that are part of binary systems. For main sequence stars, luminosity and mass are related by the ratio L3 * Lc (M3 / Mc) ^ 4. Knowing the luminosity of a star, you can determine its mass in comparison with the mass of the Sun.
