How can you measure the speed of movement of gas molecules?

| One of the ways to measure the speed of molecules was proposed by Stern. In this experiment, silver atoms, evaporating from the wire, passed through the slit of the first cylinder and settled on the inner surface of the second cylinder. In this case, both cylinders rotated at a constant speed, therefore, while the silver particle was moving between the cylinders, the cylinders were displaced by a certain distance. The velocity of the molecules can be estimated from the displacement of the silver strip.
