How did C. Darwin resolve the question of the ancestors of pets?

Supporters of the constancy of species argued that each variety, each breed has a special wild ancestor. Darwin proved that this is not so. All breeds of chickens come from wild Oankivian chicken, domestic ducks from wild duck mallard, and rabbit breeds from wild European rabbit. The ancestors of cattle were two types of wild tours .. and the ancestors of a dog are a wolf and, for some breeds, perhaps a jackal .. Moreover, animal breeds and plant varieties can vary greatly. Consider Figure 1.6, which shows some of the species of domestic pigeon. They have unequal body proportions, sizes, plumage, etc., although they all come from the same ancestor of a wild rocky dove. The head appendages of roosters are extremely diverse, and they are typical for each breed.
