How do digital cameras differ from film cameras and camcorders?

Digital cameras and video cameras use a matrix as a light detector.
In analog cameras, not digital cameras, film is the light receiver. The principle of operation of cameras is basically the same as in digital cameras, but there is also a tape drive mechanism.
Images taken with digital cameras can be transferred to a computer directly from the camera, a photo taken with a film camera must be scanned to transfer to a computer.
