| 1. In plant cells there are chloroplasts containing chlorophyll, therefore plants are autotrophic organisms that feed during photosynthesis. The reserve substance is starch.
2. There are no chloroplasts in the cells of animals, therefore animals are heterotrophs, feed on prepared organic substances. The reserve substance is glycogen.
3. Plant cells are covered with a cell wall of cellulose, which gives the cell strength, animal cells do not have a cell wall.
