How do structural features of water determine its properties and significance in nature?

Water is the most common substance found in living organisms. The total water content in different organisms ranges from 70% to 98%. The properties of water are determined by its unique chemical structure. The water molecule has an angular structure, hydrogen atoms are located at an angle of 104.5 °. This arrangement of the atom determines its polarity, the polar molecules are called a dipole. A hydrogen atom has a positive charge in the water molecule, and a negative charge on the oxygen side. Since oxygen has a higher electronegativity, it shifts the electron density from hydrogens during the formation of a covalent polar bond.
A dipole acts like a magnet in a cell, on the one hand a positive charge, on the other hand a negative charge. Due to this polarity, water molecules combine with each other and with other molecules, being a unique solvent in the cells of mineral salts. Due to this, water is involved in metabolic processes, forming ions.
