| How do the radii of atoms and the non-metallic properties of elements in a group change from top to bottom? Which element, oxygen or sulfur, is the more reactive non-metal? Which one is more electronegative? What properties do oxygen and sulfur exhibit during the reaction between them?
In the group from top to bottom, the radius of the atom grows and the non-metallic properties decrease. Oxygen is a more reactive non-metal than sulfur, because it has higher electronegativity, when oxygen and sulfur interact, oxygen is an oxidizing agent, sulfur is a reducing agent:
S + O2 -> SO2
