How does gamma radiation occur during alpha decay?
October 29, 2020 | Education
| With alpha decay of atomic nuclei, quite often not all of the energy of the nucleus is converted into the kinetic energy of movement of the alpha particle and the nucleus of the product. Some of this energy can go to excite the core of the product. This nucleus, a short time after the emission of an alpha particle, emits one or more gamma quanta and passes into the normal state.
