| How does the rate of a chemical reaction depend on the nature of the reacting substances? How do the following metals react with water: sodium, iron, gold?
The more active the metal, the higher the reaction rate.
So with sodium, the reaction goes very violently, since sodium is an active metal.
Water does not react with gold, because it is not active. With iron, the reaction takes place only when heated.
T.e. in the series Na -> Fe -> Au, the activity of metals towards water decreases, which means that the reaction rate decreases
