How is alternating current produced in industry?

In industry, alternating current is obtained at various types of power plants. So, at thermal power plants, steam turbines provide rotation of an electromagnet in generators. These generators are called turbo generators. Hydroelectric power plants use water turbines to rotate the electromagnet of generators. Mechanical energy from turbines in generators is converted into alternating current electrical energy.
