| During the period of his activity, the captain, and subsequently Major James Cook, made three full round-the-world expeditions, in the last of which he was brutally killed by the natives, the local population of the Hawaiian Islands, which he himself discovered. After that, his remains were buried at sea.
The first expedition lasted for three years, from 1768 to 1771.
The second – from 1772 to 1775.
