How snakes differ from lizards
May 29, 2020 | Education
| Unlike lizards, snakes have a long, legless body, adapted to move on the belly. Their eyelids have grown together and turned into a thin, transparent horn film. The skeleton, due to the absence of limbs, consists of a skull and spine. The ribs attached to the vertebrae end freely. The right and left halves of the jaws in the front are connected by tensile ligaments. In this regard, snakes can swallow prey as a whole.
