How to determine the direction of the Lorentz force?
November 14, 2020 | Education
| The direction of the Lorentz force acting on the particle is determined according to the left hand rule: if the left hand is positioned so that the lines of magnetic induction enter the palm, the extended four fingers are directed along the speed of movement of the positive charge, then the thumb bent 90 degrees in the plane of the palm will indicate direction of the Lorentz force. A negatively charged particle is acted upon by a force in the opposite direction to the direction thus defined.
