In autumn, during the fall of leaves, some gardeners remove fallen leaves and burn them. What is their mistake from the point of view of ecology?
1) fallen leaves form the forest floor, in which animals permanently or temporarily live – detritus feeders, mold fungi and rotting bacteria;
2) these organisms play the role of decomposers; the collection of fallen leaves and its burning disrupt the processes of soil formation and the circulation of substances.
