| In Shorthorn cattle, the color of the coat is inherited according to the intermediate type: the R gene determines the red color, the r gene determines the white; Rr genotypes have roan coat. Colostrum (A) dominates the horniness (a). A white horned cow is crossed with a homozygous red horned bull. What phenotype and genotype will their offspring have? What will be the offspring of crossing individuals F1 among themselves? Use the Pennet grid to determine F2 genotypes and phenotypes.
In F1, all offspring will have the Pprr genotype (roan, horned). In F2, splitting will occur: 25% of the animals will be red horned (ppRR), 50% will be roan horned (ppRr), 25% will be white horned (pprr).
