In most plant cells, as well as in the cells of some fungi (for example, yeast), alcohol fermentation occurs instead of glycolysis: a glucose molecule under anaerobic conditions turns into ethyl alcohol and CO2:
С6Н12О6 + 2Н3РО4 + 2АДФ → 2С2Н5ОН + 2СО2 + 2ATF + 2Н2О.
