| Iron (II) sulfide weighing 140.8 g was treated with hydrochloric acid. The released gas was burned in air. The sulfur oxide (IV) thus obtained was completely neutralized with 400 ml of 25% sodium hydroxide solution. Calculate the density of the sodium hydroxide solution.
FeS + 2HCl → H2S ↑ FeCl2
2H2S + 2O2 → 2SO2 + 2H2O
SO2 + 2NaOH → Na2SO3 + H2O
n (FeS) = 140.8 / 88 = 1.6 mol
n (NaOH) = (ω x V x ρ) / Mr
⇔ 128 = 100 ρ
⇒ ρ = 1.28 g / ml.
Answer: ρ = 1.28 g / ml.
