Is the movement of the body necessarily directed towards the force acting on it?

The acceleration of the body is directed towards the force acting on it. But the direction of the speed does not necessarily coincide with the direction of acceleration (these directions are opposite when the body thrown upward moves, they form a right angle when moving uniformly around the circumference).
