Is there a connection between new phenomena in culture and changes in the economy and political life?

This connection is obvious. Distinguishing features of the development of culture were democratization (the role of the main consumer of culture has passed. To the bourgeoisie, thanks to the success of education, culture has spread to other segments of the population) and secularization (the formation of a scientific picture of the world has pushed religion into the background more and more, which reflected on the content of culture). Important for the development of culture were the social and technical consequences of the industrial revolution. The emergence of new classes of society – the industrial bourgeoisie and the proletariat, the new role of money in society, urbanization – all this affected the theme of fiction. Technological advances have changed traditional forms of art and contributed to the emergence of new ones, the most significant of which was cinema. In place of traditional folk culture, mass culture began to take its first steps. At the same time, a high culture reaches its heyday, in which there was a rapid change in the artistic eras.
