List the areas of science, technology and art that Leonardo da Vinci was involved in. What inventions did he make? Which of them became widespread during his lifetime, and which did not, and why?
Leonardo da Vinci was engaged in painting and sculpture, studied human, animal and plant anatomy; designed fortresses and irrigation systems; invented a reliable diving bell; created projects for a submarine, parachute and helicopter. His ideas about transmitting images over long distances by coding them (as in modern televisions) were not implemented due to poorly developed industry (there was a lack of reliable materials, powerful engines).
