| Mixed 120 g of a solution of sulfuric acid with a mass fraction of 20% and 40 g of a 50% solution of the same substance. Mass fraction of acid in the resulting solution is equal to
w = m (in-va) / m (solution)
m (in-va) = 120 * 0.2 + 40 * 0.5 = 44 g – the total mass of sulfuric acid.
The total mass of the solution = 120 + 40 = 160g
w = m (in-va) / m (solution)
w = 44 * 100/160 = 27.5%
