| Near a small metal plate, fixed on an insulating stand, a light metal unloaded sleeve was hung on a silk thread. When a positive charge was given to the plate, the sleeve began to move. Describe the movement of the sleeve and explain it.
There will be a redistribution of charges on the sleeve in such a way that charges of the opposite sign are concentrated on the side closest to the plate, i.e. negative charges. The sleeve will begin to be attracted to the plate, touch it, give the plate part of its electrons, as a result of which it will acquire a positive charge and begin to repel from the plate. After some time, the sleeve will hang in a position deviated from the plate.
