During Nero’s performances, praetorians and informers were in the theater, watching the behavior of the audience and taking note of those who did not approve of the actor-emperor. One major military leader, who fell asleep in the theater during the performance of Nero, was exiled to a distant town. Nero and his companions attacked the senators, beat and robbed them.
